Ogre Municipality is a local self-government, consisting of Ogre town and 9 rural territories (36 344 inhabitants, 993,4 km2). Its aim is to ensure performance of functions prescribed to it by law, tasks assigned by the Cabinet of Ministers as well as local government voluntary initiatives.
According to the Law on Self-governments, one of its functions is also to provide for the education of residents (ensuring the specified rights of residents to acquire primary and general secondary education; ensuring children of pre-school and school age with places in training and educational institutions; organisational and financial assistance to extracurricular training and educational institutions and education support institutions, and others).
We have youth centre, where we have approximately 50 active youngers and three youth workers who implement youth policy.
This is ensured by the Educational Board of Ogre Municipality and a range of educational institutions: 10 kindergartens (pre-schools), 4 institutions of primary education, 5 secondary comprehensive schools, 1 institution of special education (Suntaži boarding primary school – rehabilitation centre), 5 institutions of vocation oriented education (Ogre Art School, Ogre Music School, Ogre Sports Centre, Ogre Basketball School, Madliena Art and Music School) and 1 institution of interest education (Ogre Children and Youth Centre).
